Songwriters just got onstage to accept the Grammy for Lady Antebellum’s Song of the Year, “Need You Now.”
Awards aren’t the only measure of a person or work, but sometimes the judges get it right.
This song has all the elements that make a song memorable: catchy chorus, simple, genuine, natural sounding lyrics, a beat that gets under your skin.
With lines like this the writers can’t lose: “And I wonder if I ever crossed your mind? For me it happens all the time.” And “I’d rather hurt than feel nothing at all.”
There’s a tinge of that unrequited love thing going on. I tell you, it’s in songwriters’ genes, this subject. We’re a desperately emotional lot, behind all that quiet reserve.
Sending good vibes of admiration into the blogosphere.
