Serendipity in the Dark

It’s the way to my heart: Picking and strumming Bob Dylan and Carol King. Rummaging through originals and other covers.

Playing songs alone randomly in my living room at twilight is the way I practice. Last night, the music was free-flowing and effortless. Not always that way when nerves overtake me at a performance, or even the occasional open mic.

Relearning a James Taylor tune brought new life to my song selection. The closet performances are about to give way to public ones, and known pieces, not just originals, help round out the repertoire.

Come to Hernando’s Hideaway April 13 at 8 p.m. at a location to be announced in New London. Three guitars, two guys (Mike Bailey and Mike Ball) and a gal (that would be me) will be recreating that serendipity in solos and other random combinations.

Sharing with the universe first, and the cats — my best audience — is my way of progressing to real people in real venues, where I’d like to be. Making time for more music. Stay tuned!
